Paper or Plastic?
I'm not sure what started the conversation, but the other day my husband and I were driving along and the subject of grocery stores came up. I was telling him how much I hate it when I'm trying to write a check and I am bombarded by questions such as "Paper or Plastic?", "Would you like your milk in a sack?", "Would you rather carry your laundry soap?", etc. By the time the cashier tells me the amount, I am a state of total confusion and have voided MANY checks because of this! Now, I remember plenty of times I have given specific instructions upon arriving at the check-out counter. Living over ten miles away from the grocery store requires certain "special" sacking techniques when sacking for the hot summer months. So I would give instructions that went something like this: "Would you please put all of my cold items together in a double sacked paper bag please?" I never thought this was an unusual or hard request and it usually avoided the whole "Paper or Plastic" issue as well. Of course, upon arriving home I would usually look inside my bags to find my cold items in a state of total disarray. Apparantly the sacker had misunderstood my instructions once again, because instead of putting all of the cold items in "1" sack, the sacker had sacked all of the cold items "1" per sack. So while my husband and I were discussing all of this, we came up with a brilliant plan to help all of the sackers out there...THE SACKING CARD. Each and every person should have their own personal sacking card to let the sacker know exactly how to sack that person's groceries. When you arrive at the checkout counter and they start to ask the dreaded "Paper or Plastic" question, just whip out your sacking card and hand it to them and then you can begin to write your checks in peace!
SACKING CARD
  • Sack all grocery items labled A thru N in paper.
  • Sack all grocery items labled O thru Z in plastic.
  • Sack all numbered items in plastic, then paper.
  • Cold items MUST be sacked seperately. I no longer care whether you put them in paper or plastic 'cause I'm bringing a cooler along from now on!

    HAVE A NICE DAY!
