Advice

Excuse me Sir,
Let me give you some advice.
Please listen carefully,
I say this only once, not twice.

Set aside those tasks,
You think cannot wait.
Spend time with your loved ones,
Before it's too late.

The pain in their hearts,
It kills me to see.
For your love and your time,
They wait patiently.

And how would you feel,
If tomorrow they were gone?
Would you be sad?
Or just carry on?

With all of those tasks,
You think cannot wait.
I beg of you sir,
Before it's too late.

Or how would you feel,
If the tables were turned?
And their love and their time,
Was the one thing you yearned?

Would you feel sad?
Or hurt or upset?
If the one you loved most,
Ignored your request?

To give you the time,
And attention you need.
Without having
To beg and to plead.

Or dear Sir,
Would you have the thought,
That in their eyes,
You matter not?

Now let us think ahead to when,
You're weary, old and gray.
What most will you remember,
About this single day?

Will it be a task well done?
Or the memory of the one you love?
The choice is yours, it's up to you.
Now tell me Sir, what will you do?
